Several people have been arrested in central London as Pro-Palestine marches are going ahead in the capital and Manchester, despite calls for organisers to postpone. Follow the latest below Met Police officers 'emotionally and physically exhausted', says federation chairwoman The chairwoman of the Metropolitan Police Federation - an association that represents police staff - has claimed "enough is enough" as she said officers policing another protest in London are "emotionally and physically exhausted". Paula Dodds said the concentration of officers in the Met should be on "keeping people safe at a time when the country is on heightened alert from a terrorist attack". She added: "Instead, officers are being drawn in to facilitate these relentless protests. "And we are coming under attack for doing so. How can this be right? "This appalling level of abuse will not be tolerated and we expect the stiffest sanctions for the perpetrator...

UK deputy PM heckled at vigil for Manchester synagogue terror attack victims: ‘Shame on you’

A somber vigil for the victims of the Yom Kippur terror attack at a British synagogue turned sour when Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy was heckled by mourners. Lammy was overwhelmed by shouts and boos from the crowd before he could even stand at the microphone at a memorial for the two people killed during the horrifying Thursday attack at Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester, the BBC reported. “Go to Palestine! Go to Palestine,” one person shouted over the chorus of boos. “Shame on you.” “You have blood on your hands,” another citizen shouted A third heckler held a banner that said “No More Words” and let loose on the Labour Party official as the crowd applauded the excoriation. “You’ve allowed it! You’ve allowed it! You are all guilty,” the man said. “You are all guilty. You allowed Jew hatred in Manchester, on the streets. You are all guilty. We do not want you speaking here today.” After the fiery invective, the entire crowd broke out into a chant of “shame on you,” foota...

“IMF Funding Terrorism? $1B Bailout to Pakistan Amid India Tensions”

I. Introduction The 7 th  May, 2025 saw the start of a brief but tense armed conflict between India and Pakistan. Its immediate trigger was the conduction of ‘ Operation Sindoor ’ by India in which it  targeted nine terrorist basecamps  situated in Pakistan. This Operation was in retaliation for the  terrorist attack  in Pahalgam, Kashmir on 22 April, 2025 in which 26 tourists (25 Indian nationals and 1 Nepali national) were killed. The Resistance Front (TRF) operating from Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack. Subsequently, the bordering countries engaged in multiple exchanges through drones and airstrikes which came to an end by a  ceasefire  reached on 10 May, 2025. Amidst heightened tensions, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on 9 May, 2025  sanctioned  the immediate disbursement of 1 billion USD to Pakistan under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement for assistance in restoring “ macroeconomic stability .” Another 1....

Stop state-sponsored terrorism or risk place in history, geography: Army chief Dwivedi warns Pakistan

Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, saying that the country must stop state-sponsored terrorism or risk its very existence in history and geography. Speaking at an event in Rajasthan, General Dwivedi said India would show no restraint if provoked again, recalling the decisive action taken during Operation Sindoor 1.0. “If Pakistan wants to maintain a place in world history and geography, it must stop state-sponsored terrorism. We will not show any restraint this time as we did during Operation Sindoor 1.0 and will go a step ahead if provoked again,” the Army chief said. He added that future action could be so forceful that Pakistan may have to “rethink whether it wants a place in history and geography or not.” Operation Sindoor, carried out on May 7, saw Indian forces conduct precision strikes on nine terror launchpads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and deep inside Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, w...

Trump reverses $187M funding cuts for New York counterterrorism after bipartisan outcry

President Donald Trump said Friday he has personally reversed $187 million in funding cuts made by his administration for New York’s law enforcement and counterterrorism operations, following bipartisan outcry from New York officials. The Republican announced the restoration of federal funding on Truth Social. “I am pleased to advise that I reversed the cuts made to Homeland Security and Counterterrorism for New York City and State. It was my Honor to do so," he wrote. "Thank you for your attention to this matter!” The reversal came after Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Monday railing against the cuts, saying they represented 86% of homeland security funding to the state, impacting the New York City police and fire departments, state police and other law enforcement agencies. The cut would had slashed federal counterterrorism funding for the NYPD from $90 million to nearly $10 million, according to Commissioner Jessica ...

Hamas response to US Gaza plan is significant - but there are key omissions

Hamas agreeing to release the remaining hostages, albeit subject to negotiations and certain conditions being met, will give real hope to the family members in Israel who have been desperate for this kind of news for a very long time. In its statement responding to the US peace proposal, the group agreed to "release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, according to the exchange formula contained in President Donald Trump's proposal, provided the field conditions for the exchange are met". That formula, outlined by Trump at the White House earlier this week, proposes an immediate end to the fighting and the release within 72 hours of all living Israeli hostages held by Hamas - as well as the remains of hostages thought to be dead - in exchange for hundreds of detained Palestinians. There are believed to be 48 hostages still being held in the Palestinian territory by the armed group, only 20 of whom are thought to be alive. The acceptance by Hamas of another key par...

Yemen's Houthis say they will target US oil firms with sanctions

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) -Yemen's Houthis will target U.S. oil majors including ExxonMobil and Chevron with sanctions, a body affiliated with the Iran-backed militia said on Tuesday. The Sanaa-based Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center (HOCC), a body set up last year to liaise between Houthi forces and commercial shipping operators, sanctioned 13 U.S. companies, nine executives and two vessels, HOCC said. The sanctions are in retaliation for U.S. sanctions imposed on the Houthis this year despite a truce agreement with the Trump administration in which the Yemeni group agreed to stop attacking U.S.-linked ships in the Red Sea and the wider Gulf of Aden, HOCC said. Exxon declined comment and Chevron did not immediately comment. "It remains unclear whether these sanctions signal that the Houthis will begin targeting vessels linked to the sanctioned organizations, companies, and individuals — a move that would risk violating the ceasefire agreement with the Trump administrati...
