Pak exposed again? JeM terrorists in India's dossiers take centre stage on 'Kashmir Solidarity Day'

What Pakistan marks as Kashmir Solidarity Day once again collided with a familiar reality: the open presence of UN-designated terrorist outfits and commanders on its soil. In Rawalakot in  Pakistan -occupied Kashmir, a rally linked to Masood Azhar’s Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) featured armed cadres and speeches by senior operatives. Among those present, according to Times Now sources, were figures tied to JeM’s leadership ecosystem, including Mufti Masood Ilyas Kashmiri and other clerics and commanders long associated with the outfit. This is not an isolated pattern. Earlier reports have showed how top Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba leaders have used the February 5 events in PoK as a stage JeM Commanders Appear at PoK Rally  At a similar Rawalakot gathering, senior JeM figures, including Masood Azhar’s relatives and commanders, were present alongside other extremist groups.  Terror commanders Maulana Abdul Mateen, Maulana Ifti Hussain, Maulana Afraz Muawiya, Maula...

S anaa:   After pushing the United Arab Emirates out of Yemen late last year, Saudi Arabia is deploying political capital and billions of dollars in a bid to bring its southern neighbor more firmly under its control, a sign of Riyadh reasserting itself regionally after years of prioritizing a domestic agenda, six officials told Reuters.  It's a formidable challenge. The wealthy Gulf kingdom is trying to bring together fractious armed groups and tribes while also propping up a collapsed state through major cash injections, with an unresolved conflict with Houthi rebels in north Yemen held at bay by a fragile truce - just as Riyadh faces a budget crunch at home.    The kingdom is budgeting nearly $3 billion this year to cover salaries for Yemeni forces and civil servants, according to four Yemeni and two Western officials, who said it included roughly $1 billion earmarked for salaries for southern fighters once paid by Abu Dhabi.  "Saudi Arabia has cooperate...

Lakurawa: Nigeria’s hybrid threat that attracted US missile fire

Image
Sustained pressure and cross-border operations, not sporadic airstrikes, are needed to halt the group’s rapid transnational expansion. In January, Nigeria officially designated Lakurawa as a terrorist organisation. Its deadly attacks in the country’s northwestern region first grabbed public attention in 2024, and between November 2024 and September 2025, nearly 100 people – mostly community members – were killed. Lakurawa was the target of the United States’ (US) Christmas Day 2025 air strikes. While official outcome assessments remain unavailable, sources with direct access to the group say at least 136 fighters died, with dozens more injured and about 200 missing. But sporadic airstrikes alone are insufficient. Degrading the group requires sustained action that combines strikes with operations by ground forces that can hold territory. Lakurawa fighters must also be prevented from regrouping and seeking sanctuary along Nigeria’s borders with Niger and Benin. Joint local preventi...

From Azerbaijan To Somalia: Turkey Is Deploying More F-16s Overseas

Turkey deployed at least three of its American-made Lockheed Martin F-16 Viper fighter jets to Somalia in late January. The move is the latest in a long line of recent Turkish overseas deployments of its air force’s fourth-generation warplanes to allied countries, some of them in or near active conflict zones. The jets touched down in Somalia’s coastal capital of Mogadishu on the Indian Ocean on January 28. Satellite images  analyzed by  the Middle East Eye news outlet suggested that Turkey had built new hangars for these fighters at the city’s international airport. Turkish cargo planes made several flights to the airport in the 10 days preceding the arrival of the jets. Somalia already hosts Turkey’s largest military base.  In its  report  on the deployment, Bloomberg noted that the jets were sent to support ongoing Turkish drone strikes against the al-Shabaab militant group and protect Turkey’s interests in the strategic African country. In addition to...
