 Several people have been arrested in central London as Pro-Palestine marches are going ahead in the capital and Manchester, despite calls for organisers to postpone. Follow the latest below

Met Police officers 'emotionally and physically exhausted', says federation chairwoman

The chairwoman of the Metropolitan Police Federation - an association that represents police staff - has claimed "enough is enough" as she said officers policing another protest in London are "emotionally and physically exhausted".

Paula Dodds said the concentration of officers in the Met should be on "keeping people safe at a time when the country is on heightened alert from a terrorist attack".

She added: "Instead, officers are being drawn in to facilitate these relentless protests.

"And we are coming under attack for doing so. How can this be right?

"This appalling level of abuse will not be tolerated and we expect the stiffest sanctions for the perpetrators. We are supporting officers as best we can."

She claimed officers are having days off cancelled, are working longer shifts or are being moved from other areas to facilitate protests.

Today's protests in London went ahead despite pleas from police and the prime minister.

Chief of the Metropolitan Police, Sir Mark Rowley, said he was worried resources would be stretched and the ability of the force to protect communities would be compromised as a result.

Chinese spying on Dutch industries 'intensifying': Dutch defence minister

SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Chinese efforts to spy on the Dutch are intensifying, with the focus on semiconductors, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said on Saturday. "The semiconductor industry, which we are technologically leading, or technology advanced, of course, to get that intellectual property - that's interesting to China," Brekelmans said in an interview on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore. Five US troops killed in Afghan roadside blast: officials

Kabul: Five members of the US-led international military coalition were killed on Saturday by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, the latest deadly attack against foreign troops since the Taliban announced the start of their spring offensive this week. The renewed violence came as Afghan President Hamid Karzai acknowledged that his government has been receiving funds from CIA for more than a decade as part of regular monthly assistance from the US government.
