New People Party Sounds Alarm Over War-Related PTSD, Calls for Therapist Training Program

The center-right New People party is calling on the Russian government to create an accelerated training program for therapists to learn how to treat combat-related PTSD among Ukraine war veterans. Deputy party leader Sardana Avksentyeva  said  Thursday that she appealed to the Defense Ministry to help retrain professional therapists as veteran-focused psychiatrists. In response to the report’s findings, President Macron instructed the government to draft proposals to counter the threat, with a Defense Council meeting scheduled for early June to discuss potential measures. This increases the risk of mobilisation into violence. We are researchers in  international security  and  contemporary warfare . In a  recent article , we explored the role of food in Africa’s terrorist insurgencies. We focused on Boko Haram in Nigeria and Al-Shabaab in Somalia.  We show how food is not only a driver or victim of violence....
