US Speaker reacts to Indian-American Megha Vemuri's pro-Palestine speech: 'Have your children avoid MIT'

Speaker Mike Johnson reacted to Indian-origin Megha Vemuri's pro-Palestine speech at the commencement ceremony and called it ignorant, hateful and morally bankrupt. Johnson also took MIT to task as he questioned why the institute has not properly responded to it. The Speaker was reacting to a post by MAGA commentator Megyn Kelly who criticized Vemuri's apathy to the Jewish students attending the ceremony. "have your children avoid MIT & the Ivy League at all costs," Johnson wrote. "So this woman hijacks the MIT graduation to make the whole thing about her personal beliefs about Israel, any insult to the Jewish students or others in attendance be damned. Selfish, self-aggrandizing, disrespectful & RUDE," Megyn Kelly wrote on X as Megha Vemuri's speech condemning her alma mater for its Israeli ties drew mixed response -- several of her classmates cheered and also protested Friday as MIT banned Vemuri from attending the rest of the event. Israeli Airstrikes Hit Sana'a Airport Again After Houthi Attacks

Sana'a – Israeli fighter jets launched fresh airstrikes on Sana'a International Airport, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Iran-backed Houthi movement. According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the attack targeted key infrastructure used by the Houthis for military operations. Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the strike successfully neutralized a Houthi-operated aircraft, which was allegedly used to transport militants involved in terror attacks against Israel. The latest strike follows repeated missile and drone attacks by the Houthis on Israeli territory, prompting swift retaliation from Israeli forces. The Houthis, who have been launching near-daily assaults, claim their attacks are in response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza. The situation remains highly volatile, with international organizations voicing concerns about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Yemen. Yemenia Airlines has announced a suspension of fligh...

The US Offensive Against the Houthis Delivered Limited Results

Amnesty International   and   Human Rights Watch   on Friday called on Yemen's Houthi rebels to release dozens of UN and aid workers who have been detained for nearly a year. The arrest and detention of aid workers has "a direct impact on the delivery of lifesaving assistance to people in critical need of aid" in a country enduring one of the world's worst humanitarian crises, the two rights groups said in a joint statement. Since May 2024, the Iran-backed Houthis have carried out several waves of  arrests  in regions under their control, targeting UN staff as well as workers in local and international humanitarian organisations. The arrests have prompted the  United Nations  to limit its deployments and suspend activities in some regions of the country devastated by more than a decade of civil war. The Houthis at the time claimed there was an "American-Israeli spy cell" operating under the cover of aid groups, accusations firmly rejected by the...

Israel Defense Forces eliminates Hamas head again, says 'he is a Sinwar too'

Image
Israel Defense Forces on Saturday (May 31) said that they have eliminated the Hamas chief again and he is a Sinwar too. This came days after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military had killed Hamas Gaza chief Muhammad Sinwar in an air strike on May 13. It is unclear if the Israeli Defense Forces in their post on X was referring to Muhammad Sinwar or any other Hamas chief. Israel had killed former Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar - the mastermind of the October 7 terror attack - in October 2024. After the killing of Yahya Sinwar, Israel made Muhammad Sinwar one of the most wanted men in Gaza, placing a $300,000 bounty on him. Hamas escalated its attacks and recruitment efforts under Muhammad Sinwar and all major Gaza operations were handle by him. Who was Muhammad Sinwar? Muhammad Sinwar, nicknamed ‘the shadow’ by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), was born in 1975 in a Khan Younis refugee camp. Sinwar's family fled from Al-Majdal Asqalan during the 1948...

From Muridke to Bahawalpur: The revolving-door terror networks of Pakistan

Image
Operation Sindoor, launched by India on the night of 6–7 May to punish the terror masterminds and operatives based in Pakistan who were responsible for the Pahalgam terror incident, significantly destroyed the Lashkar-e-Taiba headquarters in Muridke and the Jaish-e-Muhammad headquarters at Bahawalpur in Pakistan’s Punjab province. In the heinous terror incident of 22 April in Pahalgam, a group of terrorists, including two Pakistanis, killed 26 civilians. The strike drew widespread condemnation around the world. In a swift surgical strike, carried out with precision bombing, nine major terror camps—including those at Muridke and Bahawalpur, were hit hard, inflicting grave damage on Pakistan’s terror infrastructure. Acting on intelligence inputs to avoid collateral damage, the planners selected targets away from civilian areas. Although the operation focused only on terror facilities and not Pakistani military installations, Pakistan’s long record of using terrorism as state policy, and ...

Canada’s spy agency caught running unauthorized operation without approval

Canada’s national intelligence agency, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), ran a secret operation for more than a year without obtaining required government approval, according to a new report from the National Security and Intelligence Review Agency (NSIRA). The operation, which began in January 2022 and ended in early 2023, involved intrusive and high-risk activities. Under Canadian law, such actions require authorization through a ministerial directive. NSIRA found that CSIS failed to secure the proper legal basis before proceeding. Though details of the operation remain classified, the watchdog report noted that it carried a risk of harming individuals or groups targeted by CSIS. The review also emphasized that some of the methods used could only be justified under a ministerial order, one CSIS never received. Senior CSIS officials knew early on that the operation likely required ministerial authorization. Despite this, the activity continued. The agency also failed ...

Bayraktar busted: Pakistan’s drone fiasco-How Indian radars exposed Turkish tech

Turkey’s much-hyped Bayraktar TB2 drones, hailed as revolutionary weapons in conflicts from Ukraine to Libya, have suffered a devastating reputational blow after Pakistan’s Turkish-origin drone fleet failed spectacularly during Operation Sindoor. Indian forces, using indigenous Akashteer air defense systems, shot down every single Turkish-origin drone in the May conflict, leaving the Turkish defense industry scrambling to defend its once-prized exports. Why it matters Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has long touted Turkish-made drones as a symbol of his “Islamist vision” and a centerpiece of Turkey’s defense ambitions. The drones were not only instruments of hard power but also a diplomatic tool for Turkish influence in Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. But as India’s Akashteer system intercepted Pakistani drones with 100% accuracy, Turkey’s arms export ambitions took a direct hit.
