TTP Attacks Pakistani Military Convoy With Bombs, Gunfire Near Afghan Border; Deadly Ambush Leaves 11 Dead
A recent ambush by Islamist militants near the Afghan border targeted a Pakistani military convoy, resulting in the deaths of nine paramilitary soldiers and two officers.
A day earlier, Pakistan security forces also eliminated a key Afghan-origin terrorist of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local police said
Pir Agha Qandhari was killed in an operation conducted in the Gabir area of Bajaur district, bordering Afghanistan, on Tuesday, police said. The slain terrorist was involved in numerous terrorist activities, including attacks on security forces and the killing of innocent civilians
In recent months, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, which wants to overthrow the government and replace it with their hardline brand of Islamic governance, have stepped up attacks on Pakistani security forces. Islamabad says the militants use neighbouring Afghanistan to train and plan attacks against Pakistan, a charge Kabul denies.
