10 injured as blast hits shrine in Pakistan's Rawalpindi


ISLAMABAD, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- At least 10 people were injured when a bomb went off at a religious congregation near a shrine in Pakistan's north Rawalpindi city, local media reported.

ARY News said that the explosion happened in downtown Chittian Hattian area of Rawalpindi, the sister city of the country's capital Islamabad.

The nature of the blast has not been determined yet.

The injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital where at least three of them were in a critical condition.

Rescue teams rushed to the blast site, while the authorities put two major hospitals in the city on high alert.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Police cordoned off the area for investigations.
