Jihad’s ‘child soldiers’ spark calls for action on extremists

THE grandfather of the young Sydney boy forced to pose with the severed head of an executed soldier in Syria has called on the government to act, saying he is “gutted’’ by the sickening image.

As political and religious leaders lined up to condemn the gruesome photo, published by The Australian yesterday, fresh details emerged about how convicted terrorist Khaled Sharrouf spirited his family out of Australia, flying his children into Malaysia and booking return tickets to confuse authorities.

Chinese spying on Dutch industries 'intensifying': Dutch defence minister

SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Chinese efforts to spy on the Dutch are intensifying, with the focus on semiconductors, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said on Saturday. "The semiconductor industry, which we are technologically leading, or technology advanced, of course, to get that intellectual property - that's interesting to China," Brekelmans said in an interview on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore. Five US troops killed in Afghan roadside blast: officials

Kabul: Five members of the US-led international military coalition were killed on Saturday by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, the latest deadly attack against foreign troops since the Taliban announced the start of their spring offensive this week. The renewed violence came as Afghan President Hamid Karzai acknowledged that his government has been receiving funds from CIA for more than a decade as part of regular monthly assistance from the US government.
