They are Bittu Bidika, Sarpati Nachika, Rudra Bidika, Bisi Mandangi, Satya Mandingi, Bari Meleka, Sima Meleka, Sukru Mandingi. They had joined the Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha in 2009, worked in their respective villages under Bandhugaon and later joined the outlawed CPI(Maoist) outfit.

They became active members of Bandhugaon zonal committee under Andhra-Odisha Border State Zonal Committee of CPI(Maoist).

They had undergone training in weapon handling, making of  Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), landmine planting and blasting.

Police said the eight cadres were wanted for their alleged involvement in various Maoist-related crimes in Bandhugaon during the period 2009 to 2014.

Disillusioned with the anti-tribal of the Maoist outfit and discrimination shown to them by Andhra Pradesh cadres, they decided to give up arms and join mainstream.

Koraput IG, Yashwant Jethewa, said their case is being considered for rehabilitation under the State Government’s rehabilitation policy for Maoists.

With the latest surrender, the total number of Maoists who have surrendered in 2014 in Koraput district has gone up to 47, the IG informed.
