KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa said that his party would reinstate the deposed king through a popular mandate if the elections were held.
Addressing a mass meeting organised by his part at Khullamanch of Kathmandu on Saturday, the pro-monarchy leader argued that after the death of Constituent Assembly, which overthrew the monarchy from its meeting, and failure to promulgate new constitution the king had automatically been revived for all the decisions made by CA were invalid.
Asking the king to be patient, he said, "We will bring him from Nagarjun to Naryanhity after elections."
Warning the major parties, he said he would bring a sea of people to hit the streets for the resurrection of the monarchy unless the free, fair and impartial elections were held.
With the changed context, he claimed, other powers including RPP-Nepal had risen to power and the people would cast their votes in favour of monarchy.
He asked the government to either hold elections or reinstate the 1990 Constitution.
He flayed the major political forces for their claim that the new constitution should be written through an agreement among themselves only, and demanded that a government be formed in the leadership of retired or incumbent Chief Justice of Supreme Court to hold free and impartial elections.
Dubbing the 12-point agreement among major parties and the Maoists, which led the former rebels to the mainstream politics, unnatural, Thapa said would never bear fruit.
Referring to the newfound crisis in the wake of CA dissolution and differences among the parties, he said, "We reached just opposite of our destination as the path was wrong."
"This is like a passenger who was heading to Kakadbhitta in the east reaching Mahendranagar in the west. We, passengers, believed what the parties as driver and conductor told us. We got on the wrong bus."
"The parties promised of peace, democracy and economic development and after six years they turned the country bankrupt," he said, "Now they are fighting with each other."
He said the country has been stuck in the mesh of radical leftism, soaring market prices and unabated corruption.
He accused the top leadership of three parties —UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML—of being involved in the multimillion dollar Sudan Scam in Nepal Police.
Thapa urged the honest cadres of Maoist party to ask their leadership where Rs 150 crore, released by the government in the name of Maoist fighters as ration allowance, had disappeared.
