Maoists play mind game to discredit forces

Having received some severe blows at the hands of State police and paramilitary forces in recent weeks, the Maoist insurgents have now resorted to mind game claiming that many of their cadre have infiltrated into the ranks of security forces fighting against the menace in Bastar.
The State police recently had smashed their supply line by arresting four persons who were allegedly engaged, for quite some time, in supplying of high quality arms and ammunition, which is generally used by security forces, besides supplying daily need merchandise to top Maoists camping in the dense and inaccessible forests of Bastar.
The arrests also exposed the fact that the racket was not merely limited to Chhattisgarh but its roots are spread to much more beyond its borders.
As the doubt about making available these high quality ammunition ultimately pointed towards the presence of some black sheep among the security forces, it also provided a chance for the Maoist leadership to create confusion about appointment of some Salwa Judum workers by the State Government as Special Police Officers (SPOs) who fight against Maoists by providing logistic support to security forces in the inaccessible terrain of Bastar. The mastermind of this game is said to be Ramanna alias Rawula Shrinawas, the undisputed leader of over a dozen dalams of insurgents including Dakshin Bastar Area Committee active in State’s vast of southern forested tips.
Ramanna, a chemical engineer and explosive expert by profession, is said to be very close to Konta residents Abdul Mujib, who was recently apprehended with his accomplice Anjali Chouhan by the Raipur Police while carrying 270 cartridges of AK-47 and SLRs, and Ishaq, who is now residing in Andhra Pradesh and is presently out of reach of the Chhattisgarh Police. These two are said to be supplying arms and ammunition to Ramanna for more than a decade and are known to each other.
Top police sources say that Mujib and three others _ Anjali, her husband Sheikh Anwar and Babloo alias Hardev Daud, _ during interrogation reportedly told the police that Maoists have infiltrated into the ranks of security forces and are facilitating not only the supply of arms and ammunition but also providing information regarding their movement and planning to the insurgents. Additional Director General of Police (Naxal Operations) Ram Niwas ruled out any possibility of infiltration saying “Till now we do not have any information in this regard. Rather, many old cadre of Maoists who have renounced violence are working with us and have helped us successfully to execute a number of operations in Bastar. If some of them have infiltrated into the ranks of security forces, they could hardly do any wrong.”
