Bomb blast near BSF camp at Heirok

Imphal, April 19 2012: Unidentified miscreants hurled a bomb near the outpost of 116 battalion of BSF at Heirok Part II under Thoubal district at around 7 this morning.

No one was injured in the incident.

The bomb exploded 150 metres to the east from the BSF outpost.

A large crater was formed at the site due to the impact of the explosion.

Another bomb was also found at a distance of 30 metres to the south of the blast site.

Police reports confirmed that the bomb was electronic detonator bomb.

After the blast, OC of Heirok Police and Manipur Police Commandos attached with the Police Station rushed for inspection.

The other bomb which was recovered by the police was without detonator.

The bomb was later detonated by the police at a safer place at around 10 am.

Meanwhile, a cadre of KCP (KK Nganba) was apprehended by Manipur Police Commandos, Bazaar Unit toady at around 11:30 am from near Imphal Polo Ground.

The arrested cadre has been identified as one Waikhom Ashokumar alias Ebungo (39), s/o W Ebotombi of Charangpat Mamang Leikai.

One demand letter was also recovered from his possession, police said.
