NPA issues ‘warrant’ for arrest of RPA men

he Roselyn Pelle Command of the New People’s Army yesterday said it has issued arrest warrants against members of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade and armed goons, allegedly responsible for burning of houses and crops, as well as firing at farmers in Brgy. Lopez Jaena, Sagay City, late last year.
Cecil Estrella, spokesperson of the Roselyn Pelle Command in a press statement, said all NPA units in northern Negros were ordered to arrest RPA-ABB members alias Remar, Larry Chavez, alias Mingming, Loreto Bandala, alias Rufo, alias Barok, alias Bongbong and their companions, as well as RPA-ABB leader Remar Agabon.
Even members of a fact-finding mission team were not spared from the harassment of the suspected RPA-ABB members and armed goons, Estrella said.
Members of Karapatan-Negros and its affiliated organizations claimed they were harassed by alleged RPA-ABB members, while they were conducting a fact finding mission last month in Hacienda Baldevia, Brgy. Lopez Jaena, Sagay City, while investigating the alleged demolition and burning of houses in the place, and strafing incidents.
The Northern Negros Alliance of Human Rights and the National Federation of Sugar Workers also condemned the alleged harassment by the RPA-ABB and the persons who, they claimed, hired them to do it.
RPA-ABB spokesman Victorino Sumulong has denied that their members harassed and strafed members of the NFSW.
Senior Supt. Allan Guisihan, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, earlier encouraged victims of alleged atrocities to identify the perpetrators and document evidence, which will be needed in filing charges against the suspects.
Estrella slammed the provincial government of Negros Occidental, and the city government of Sagay for being “inutile” or playing blind and deaf to atrocities allegedly committed by the RPA-ABB and armed goons hired by farm owners.
The rebel spokesman claimed they have established probable cause against the perpetrators, based on the facts presented to the revolutionary court.*GPB
