More Homemade Explosives in Berlin

It seems that the rail system in Berlin cannot catch a break. In fact, police are saying that a total of seven homemade explosives have now been found along side the Berlin railway system over the past three days. This is of course causing some very bad delays and cancellations. Police in Berlin are doing all they can to get this problem under control as quickly as possible.

Reports now show that two of the homemade devices have exploded. One of them blew up on Monday and the other on Wednesday. However, authorities say that no one was injured or killed in these blasts. The blast that took place on Monday caused some bad damage to the rail system between Hamburg and Berlin. So far, this damage has yet to be repaired.

There was another attempt at arson on Monday. Apparently, someone tried to burn down Berlin’s central train station. However, this attempt failed, as officials were able to discover the device before it exploded.

Ever since the first bomb on Monday, at least 2,000 trains have been delayed. A spokesman for Deutsche Bahn, a state-owned rail company in Berlin, said that they are doing everything that they can to minimize delays. Gerd Neubeck, who is the senior manager of the Deutsche Bahn’s security department, said that Germany is falling victim to extremists. Either way, the company’s control over the situation has been pretty successful.

The state-owned company is offering a 100,000 euro reward for any information that could lead to the arrest of the people behind the blasts. So far, a group called ‘Hekla Welcome Committee-Initiative for More Social Eruptions’ has claimed responsibility for the explosions. The group said, in a note, that they are attacking the rail system due to Germany’s involvement in the Afghanistan war.

The group went on to say, in a statement, that they have managed to slow down the German capital. This hurts its function as a global player in the export of armaments. However, the group did say that they are not acting with the intention of hurting anyone. There has been too much blood shed already.

Hekla went on to say in their statement that German soldiers kill in different parts of the world. For the past 10 years, the German armed forces have been at war in Afghanistan. They have been doing this without the agreement of the German people. Something needs to be done about this sooner rather than later.

Back in October, a poll was given by YouGov. It showed that about two-thirds of all Germans do not believe in a successful military operation in Afghanistan anymore. However, others believe that Germany cannot simply just pull out now after everything that has been done.
