3 CRPF jawans killed in Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi:  Maoists have attacked the Bheggi Police station near Sukma in Chhattisgarh. Three jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been killed in the attack while three others are injured.

This is the third Maoist attack in three days.

Maoists attacked the CRPF men when they were inspecting a jungle site for a base camp for a possible relocation after a Supreme Court order that had asked the security personnel to vacate school buildings, police said.

There was at least 50 cops in the police station when the Maoist attacked, yet the Maoists were able to take away weapons. The rebels have also issued an audio statement.

On Friday, 10 security personnel were killed when Maoists blew up an anti-land mine vehicle in Katikalyan area of Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh.

Nearly 70 kg of explosives were used in that attack.

Seven Special Police Officers (SPO) and three police jawans were killed on the spot when their vehicle was tossed in the air by a powerful blast near Gatan village of the district.

A day earlier, four jawans were killed in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district when Maoists opened indiscriminate fire near the camp of Chhattisgarh Armed Force in Naraynpur district.

Alert on Andhra-Chhattisgarh border

In view of Naxal violence in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh Police have sounded an alert on Andhra-Chhattisgarh border.

"We have already alerted our policemen on the border and movement of security forces have been increased," Khammam district Superintendent of Police P Harikumar said.
