At least 16 people were killed in two separate bomb blasts in Afghanistan on Saturday, Xinhua reported quoting officials.
Fifteen people, including eight children, were killed in a roadside
blast which hit a bus in the Southern Kandhar province early on
Saturday, the Afghanistan interior ministry said.
“The bloody incident occurred at around 10.00 am. Local time on
Saturday when a mini-bus touched off a roadside bomb in Arghandab
district. As a result, 15 civilians — eight children, four women and
three men — were killed and one woman was wounded,” Afghanistan’s
interior ministry said in a statement. In another incident, at least one
person was killed when a powerful blast rocked the Ghazni province.
“I confirm that a passerby was killed and four school children were
injured in the blast,” provincial police chief Zarawar Zahid told
Xinhua. A local official, who declined to be identified, said the blast
happened at around 12.30 pm. Local time close to a military base of
Afghan and Nato-led troops. Security forces cordoned off the blast site.
