A homemade bomb went off along the side of a road on Friday morning while a convoy of Maguindanao gubernatorial candidate Esmael Mangudadatu in Ampatuan town was passing by, radio dzMM reported.

The report quoted Maguindanao Provincial Police Director Senior Superintendent Alex Lineses which indicated that an improvised explosive device planted on the roadside in Barangay Kauran went off when Mangudadatu’s campaign convoy passed by the area at 10 a.m. Friday.

No one was hurt in the blast, the report said.

Mangudadatu’s wife and two sisters were among the 57 people killed in the grisly massacre in Ampatuan town on November 23, 2009, while on their way to file her husband's certificate of candidacy.

Police has yet to determine the motive of the blast as of posting time. -
