The head of Australia's domestic spy agency ASIO says the recent bombings in Jakarta show that Australians are at risk.
David Irvine has broken his silence after four months in the job and says Australia and Indonesia continue to cooperate closely on counter-terrorism, especially in the wake of the Jakarta bombings.
"I can put it no more starkly than to say that the potential continues for serious threats to Australia and Australians abroad and at home," he said.
In the wake of the bombings, Australian agencies checked to see if it inspired any copycats here.
Mr Irvine says in the past year ASIO has added five foreign intelligence agencies in two countries to the already long list of foreign spy bodies it works with.
