Salboni (West Bengal): After being ousted by security forces, Maoists struck again -- the second attack in the past seven days -- killing a supporter of People's Committee against Police Atrocities and a Trinamool Congress member this morning.

PCPA supporter Tarini Deb Singh and Trinamool activist Swapan Deb Singh, both hailing from Memul village, were abducted two days ago by suspected Maoists, who accused them of working as informers for police and CPI-M, police said.

Their bodies were found near Lalgarh here between Memul village and Madhupur village, adding Maoists have claimed responsibility for the murders.

Police said nearly 10 armed Maoists raided the house of Sudarshan Das, a local-level CPI-M leader, in the Salboni police station area, beat his father Rakhhari Das for refusing to part with information about his son and abducted the duo.

"We have been constantly threatened by them (Maoists). We have informed the police many times, but nothing has happened and now they have killed my husband. I don't know where to go with my son and daughter," Tarini's wife Anima said over phone.

Last Friday, Maoists abducted two CPI-M supporters and left their bodies in front of the party office. Then in a brazen show of strength, the armed Maoists took out a procession, ransacked the CPI-M office and set it on fire.

No one touched the bodies. The families of the deceased eventually took the bodies to Midnapore town for cremation with police help.

Last night, the Maoists attacked a camp of the joint forces and fired around 20 rounds at Dharampur in Lalgarh despite security presence.

Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held in Purulia between Jharkhand Police and West Bengal Police to decide the joint action against Maoists in the two states. IG (Western Range) Kuldeep Singh was present in the meeting.

This is the second meeting in the past few days back.

Construction manager held for helping Maoists

An official of a Delhi-based construction company was today arrested for allegedly providing communication sets and other logistical support to Maoists in Jharkhand's Palamu district.

"Acting on a tip-off, the senior manager of Shekhar Construction Company, Naresh Sharma, was arrested for supplying wireless communication sets to Maoists following a raid in the company's office in Redma here," Superintendent of Police, Mohit Bundas told newsmen here.

The company was engaged in construction work worth over a hundred crore, including construction Panki-Medninagar road at a cost of Rs 74 crore and the construction of a barrage in Mohammadgunj in the district.

Two wireless communication sets were also recovered from the office during the raid, Bundas said.
