Farooq Naek calls for world support to win war on terror

ISLAMABAD, Jul 2 (APP): Chairman Senate, Farooq H. Neak said on Thursday that Pakistan is committed to combat terror in all forms and manifestation as the menace poses threat to the country as well as to rest of the world. He was speaking as the guest of honour at a reception hosted by British MP of Pakistan origin, Lord Nazir Ahmed in London last night, says a message received here on Thursday. The Chairman said backing of the on-going military operation by all mainstream political parties in Pakistan alongwith the civil society is a manifestation that we have recognized the fact there is no choice but to fight it out with the militants with all our force and might. “It is our war because religious extremism going unchecked would have devoured the meaning of Pakistan. Our message to terrorists is loud and clear. We could not allow our territory to be used by terrorists or extremists and we would not be deterred by enormity of the task to stamp out terrorism”, he added. Farooq Neak further observed that Pakistan is in a state of war and our economy is directly and largely affected by it. The fight against terrorism is threatening not only Pakistan but also the whole world, and it could be won but with international cooperation. Pakistan, he said, needs trade not aid so that it could send more of its goods to foreign countries. A special package should be prepared for Pakistan so that it could enhance its exports to the European markets. He also called for world support for speedy rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) whose number is growing day by day. The reception was attended among by honourable Madam Speaker House of Lords Baroness Hayman and a number of Parliamentarians. The Chairman lauded the efforts of Lord Nazir Ahmed to muster support for just causes like the one of IDPs and efforts to curb militancy and extremism.
