Former Jharkhand minister and sitting JDU MLA, Ramesh Singh Munda and three others were today (July 9) shot dead by suspected naxalites at Baruhatu village near Bundu in Ranchi district, about 60 km from Ranchi.
According to district Deputy Commissioner Avinash Kumar, the JDU leader, two of his guards and another person were declared brought dead by the doctors at the Rajendra Institute Of Medical Sciences. Munda, who was a cabinet minister during the previous BJP-led government, was at a prize distribution function of H S High School when the gunmen started firing indiscriminately.
The 53-year old JDU legislature party leader represented Tamar assembly constituency in the state assembly from 2000.
