‘They don’t even tackle honour killings’ MCB’s counter-terror plans slammed
AN ISLAMIC group has criticised the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) claiming the organisation does not tackle honour killings in the UK and should not be consulted on counter-terrorism.
The MCB has directly challenged the Government’s Prevent scheme by announcing a blue print for an alternative counter-terror initiative.
Beginning on a grass-roots level, the project is set to start next year.
He said: "This makes a great change from the Muslim Council in Britain moaning about the events over the past six years, so I'm very grateful.
"We've been dealing with issues around honour killings, forced marriages and abuse of Imams, and they haven't dealt with those three things.
How can I take what they're saying about radicalisation seriously
Mr Lea South also said the Government needed to stop working with a group he feels is out-of-touch with the Muslim community.
He added that part of the problem with radicalisation in Britain is the failure to spot vulnerable youths.
"The government need to stop liaising with out-of-date, irrelevant organisations of people, and need to get real genuine people who represent the vast British Muslim community and say 'this is what we want to do, give us your input’.”
