Rookee, Jan 25: In order to prevent Muslim youths from adopting the extremist ideology of terror outfit Islamic State or ISIS, a madrassa banned the social media and use of mobile phone for the students studying there. A madrassa in Roorkee city of Haridwar district in Uttarakhand ordered students learning there not to use mobile phone and social media so that they can be saved from the trap of ISIS. “We have asked parents to keep an eye on their children’s social media activities so that they don’t get misled by extremists like ISIS,” said Maulana Nawab Ali.
ISIS has been using using social platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter effectively to attract Muslim youth towards their so called jihad and terror activities in the name of Islam. Most of the young Muslim who tried to join ISIS came in contact with the ISIS through social media and were radicalised by the outfit on social platform too.
The Delhi police special cell has arrested five men suspected of planning an attack at the Ardh Kumbh Mela in Haridwar from Roorkee. The accused were suspected of being in contact with ISIS-handlers who were helping them plan an attack at the Ardh Kumbh Mela and Haridwar-bound trains.
