President Donald Trump vows to strike Middle East peace deal with Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas

PRESIDENT Donald Trump and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas have vowed to work together to strike a peace deal with Israel that would bring stability to the Middle East.
“We will get it done. We will be working so hard to get it done. It’s been a long time. But we will be working diligently,” Mr Trump said during a joint appearance with Abbas at the White House.
“I look much forward to working with you in order to come to that historical agreement, historic deal to bring about peace,” Mr Abbas replied, speaking through a translator.

The New York Post reports Mr Trump called on Mr Abbas to renounce terrorism, saying there could be no peace deal with Israel unless Palestinian leaders condemned anti-Israeli violence.
“There could be no lasting peace unless the Palestinian leaders speak in a unified voice against incitement to violence and hate. There’s such hatred, but hopefully, there won’t be such hatred for very long. All children of God must be taught to value and respect human life and condemn all of those who target the innocent,” he said.

The pair were expected to meet through most of Wednesday afternoon during the Palestinian leader’s first visit to the White House in about 24 years — since he signed an earlier peace deal with Israel.
“It was on these grounds that President Abbas stood with a courageous peacemaker, then-Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin. Here at the White House, President Abbas signed a declaration of principles, very important, which laid the foundation for peace between the Israelis and Palestinians,” Mr Trump said.
But Mr Abbas in his remarks set parameters for a deal that Israel would likely oppose.
“Our strategic choice is to bring about peace based on the vision of the two-state [solution], a Palestinian state with its capital of East Jerusalem that lives in peace and stability with the state of Israel based on the border of 1967,” he said, referring to the borders before the Arab-Israeli war that year.

Israel has staunchly opposed giving up all of the land it annexed on the West Bank, Golan Heights and East Jerusalem.
Both leaders said a peace deal would go a long way to ending the instability that led to the rise of radical Islamic terrorists such as IS, which Mr Abbas said “has nothing to do with our noble religion.”
The Palestinian leader also praised Mr Trump’s reputation as a deal-maker, saying that would be a benefit in their talks with the Israelis.
“I believe that we are capable under your leadership and your stewardship and your wisdom as well your great negotiating ability, I believe with the grace of God and with all of your effort, we believe that we can be partners, true partners to you to bring about a historic peace treaty,” he said.

Mr Trump was expected to pressure Mr Abbas to end payments to families of Palestinians imprisoned in Israeli jails, one of several actions Washington believes could lead to resumed peace talks with Israel.
Others include a Palestinian end to anti-Israel rhetoric and incitement of violence, administration officials said.
Israel considers payments to families a reward for terrorists, but stopping them could be a non-starter for Mr Abbas, especially at a time of broad Palestinian support for a mass hunger strike by prisoners held by Israel.
US officials said such a request was raised in preparatory talks with Palestinian officials, and three Republican senators urged a halt to such payments in a letter to Mr Trump that reflected widespread opinion in Congress.

While Mr Abbas will be challenged on the payments, Mr Trump will also use their meeting to recommit the US to helping the Palestinians improve their economic conditions, officials said.
Mr Trump, they added, will reiterate his belief that Israeli settlement construction on land claimed by the Palestinians does not advance peace prospects.
The peace process has been stalled since 2014, when former Secretary of State John Kerry’s effort to lead the sides into peace talks collapsed. Since then, there have been no serious attempts to get negotiations restarted.
The Obama administration spent its last months in office attempting to preserve conditions for an eventual resumption.
“We hope this will be a new beginning,” Mr Abbas told Palestinians at a meeting in Washington on the eve of the talks.

He blamed the lack of dialogue in recent years on the Israeli government, saying its leaders “have no political vision,” and reiterated his demands for an independent Palestinian state along pre-1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
“Without this we will not accept any solution,” said Mr Abbas, who touted an Arab League peace plan that offers Israel diplomatic relations with the Muslim world for a Palestinian state. “There is no alternative.”
Israel rejects the 1967 lines as a possible border, saying it would impose grave security risks.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hasn’t outlined an alternative demarcation.

An exercise in futility to say the very least. Mahmoud Abbas doesn't feel that Israel should exist anywhere in the Middle East, he doesn't even believe that Jews are human, but he does believe that all Jews, Christians and all of us other Infidels need to convert to Islam (the Satanic Muhammad cult) or we should all be killed. How much negotiation does President Trump plan to do? We all know that there will never be peace for the Jews until the return of Jesus Christ. Then and only then will there be peace not only in the Middle East but everywhere on the new earth. Even President Trump in his eagerness to be "the deal maker of all time, cannot out negotiate the Lord of all Creation. But go ahead President Trump, give it your best shot. Islam and Jews and Christians cannot coexist, because Islam coexists with no one!

So the Israelis and the "Palestinians" are equally adamant about returning to 1967 borders. Israel says "Never" and Abbas says there cannot be peace unless it is done. In particular, Jerusalem is demanded as its capitol by both sides...no compromise. If Drumpf can pull this one off, he will go down in history as the greatest mediator who ever lived...and I will apologize to all his loonies who support him. I think I am safe, however.

As a former ardent Trump supporter, I believe that Trump will go down in history as "The Great Betrayer" and as the leader of the Republicans, the "Great Betrayal Party." Does Trump not understand the failure of Jimmy Carter and the Camp David accords?

Until the PLO recognizes Israel and vows to separate from the Hamas, then change its charter not to reflect the destruction of Israe, the talk of peace is impossible. The PLO must eliminate terror camps in which children are taught to kill Jews. A cultural exchange program must exist that allows Arab children to learn that Jewish children are not "born of Apes and pigs" which is what the schools teach. An agreement to create programs to normalize understanding between the Arabs and Jews must exist before a real desire for peace can begin. Land is not the issue. Religion and cultural education are the issues . Until Hamas leaders are eliminated or their charter changed, and once the anti-Semitic rhetoric is dropped, peace is not possible. The Arabs will never do that because they reflect their education and ther religion which does not allow them to live together with Jews except for the purpose to infiltrate them until the day comes when they are strong enough to dominate the Jews and then kill them. That would fulfill the teachings of the Kohran. The Arabs don't need land in Israel. They are surrounded by millions of open land owned by other Arab nations. Encroaching on Israeli land is a real threat to Israel's safety and that is the Arab objective.

Of course he will. It's so much easier than others have supposed, kinda like Health Care, Tax Reform, and understanding that being President actually entails knowledge, dignity, a vocabulary, and not having all your relatives on board.

When President Carter was close to achieving that, the mass media figuratively assassinated him and the people who control our money supply raised interest rates to over 19%, crashing our economy from which it has never recovered. It seems that there is no money to be made from waging peace.

Google "who controls America" or just go to the attached link.

Unfortunately there is NO WAY there will be a "peace deal" with Abbas or any other "leader" of the "Palestinians", without throwing Israel to the wolves! Their ONLY, and oft stated, goal is the obliteration of Israel and her people, period, and they are NOT open to accepting anything less. It's about time our leaders decide WHOSE side they're on; and I don't mean Israel and the "Palestinians" but Yhwh God's or Satan's because this is, in fact, a spiritual battle, not a carnal one.
