Bomb blast at Sagolband
Imphal, July 07 2012:
Unidentified miscreants exploded a hand grenade at the underground RCC
water reservoir constructed by the PHED at Sagolband Nepra Menjor Leikai
last night though no casualty has been reported.
A police source informed that the explosion occurred at 12.15hrs.Around 15 labourers were putting up at the siteThe construction work has been undertaken by Simplex Infra-structure Private Limited.
About half-feet deep of the RCC blade was pierced by the blast apart from ripping a jerry-can used for storing diesel and some fluorescent tubes.
There has been an instance of an underground faction serving monetary demand to the construction, the source said.
Local residents staged a sit-in protest against the explosion today.
Meanwhile, an antique bomb was discovered by locals this morning around 9 while digging a pond at Khundrakpam Mayai Leikai in Imphal East district.
