Large arms haul near Bhutan border

Kokrajhar (Assam), Nov 15 (PTI) In a large haul, 11 grenades besides live ammunition of AK-47 rifle, belonging to suspected NDFB militants, were recovered from the Kokrajhar district along the Indo-Bhutan border today. Acting on a tip-off, the police and army launched a joint operation at Laopani area under Bismuri police outpost along the international border and discovered the arms and ammunition, kept underground.

Besides 11 grenades, one pistol, 55 live ammunition of AK-47, a 12 volt battery, electric wire and three radio sets were recovered. The police claimed that the arms and ammunition were hidden by suspected National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants of the anti-talk faction.
