  • Syria's caretaker PM speaks as celebrations continue in Damascus

    Syria's caretaker prime minister Mohammed al Bashir has been addressing those assembled at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.

    He delivered the Friday sermon - amid continued celebrations in the capital and in cities across the country.

    Bashir earlier said the caretaker government, formed from the opposition government that ran areas held by the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), will temporarily oversee the country's affairs until March, saying it will be "a great challenge".
