Gunmen attack Adamawa hospital, abduct proprietor
Gunmen have attacked a private hospital in Adamawa State and abducted its proprietor.
It was gathered that the gunmen stormed the Aisha Hospital, located in Ngurore, a community in Yola South Local Government Area, and took away the proprietor, Dr Saidu Bala.
Dr Saidu is a famous doctor who has held topflight positions, including being the immediate past Medical Director of Specialist Hospital Yola, Adamawa’s biggest and best state-owned medical centre.
A source said Tuesday morning that the gunmen broke into the Aisha Hospital after 6pm Monday, when Ngurore residents had just observed the last evening Muslim prayer.
“As they got to the hospital, the gunmen shot sporadically to scare people away,” one source said, adding: “They then went to Dr Saidu Bala’s office and took him.”
According to the source, the operation was swift, “so fast that it was conducted in less than five minutes.”
Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, confirmed the incident, assuring that a move was on to apprehend the suspects and rescue the abducted medical chief.
“Our men found three used bullet canisters at the scene of the crime and we have immediately deployed men of anti-kidnapping squad to rescue the abducted medical practitioner,” Nguroje said.
