3 women Maoists killed in ‘encounter’ in Chhattisgarh

 Hyderabad: Three women Maoists were killed in an alleged encounter at the dense forests of Adwal and Kuneras of Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Sunday. The Maoists were said to be area committee members and were carrying a Rs 5 lakh reward each.

The deceased were identified as Raja Muchaki, Geetha and Jyothi. A police official said that a special police force that was conducting a combing operation noticed the movement of Maoists and asked them to surrender.

The Maoists tried to open fire at the special force, police said. The polcie in retaliation opened fire and killed the three women Maoists. It was the second encounter after Maoist party senior leader died due to ill-health. Three Maoists had been killed in another encounter last week.
