Assam: Setback for newly formed Bodo outfit NLFB, huge cache of arms and explosives recovered
In a setback to the newly floated Bodo insurgent group NLFB, security forces in a joint operation on Friday night seized a huge cache of arms and explosives from Gossaigaon in western Assam’s Kokrajhar district.
Acting on a specific input regarding a huge quantity of Arms & explosive which was supposed to be delivered to NLFB rebels, a search operation was launched by the troops of SSB with Assam Police at Ripu Reserve Forest on Friday night.
During the operation, the team recovered the arms and explosives from Nobinagar village of Ripu Reserve Forest under Kachugaon police outpost in the district.
The seized arms and explosives include 87 galantine sticks, 200 detonators, two country-made rifles, three magazines of 9 mm pistols, one Chinese grenade, two coils of safety fuse wire, one bundle of electric wire and four batteries besides some utensils.
“The seizure has inflicted a major setback to the newly formed group and the process of gathering the cadres to its team,” said a police official.
The search operation is still underway inside the jungle.
