Iran Regime’s Official Acknowledges Qassem Soleimani’s Role in Killing Coalition Forces in Iraq

In an unprecedented admission, Nader Talebzadeh, head of the “New Horizon” organization, a front organization of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) and its Quds Force, has revealed how Iran’s eliminated terror master Qassem Soleimani “used Improvised Explosive Device (IED)” bombs to target American forces in Iraq.

Talebzadeh, who was so-called interviewing a member of the terrorist Quds Force, called Soleimani “The Shadow Commander.”

“Who made so much trouble for them [American troops]? It was the same commander of shadows. Who trained [the regime’s terrorist proxy groups] and used the tactic of using roadside bombs, who were like stones? The Americans called these bombs IEDs. I remember how disturbed they were, how the U.S. media reflected this disturbance in 2003, after the U.S. occupied Iraq. Who disturbed them? Whose Idea was it? The IED is the abbreviation of Improvised Explosive Device, meaning inventory explosions, so the target couldn’t recognize whether it was a bomb or a stone. The target would pass this object, then, for example its Humvee, its tank would blow away. We saw the footages, but whose terrifying shadow was behind it, who devastated them? One day we should make films about it, and all other works he [Soleimani] had done. One of them was the IED in Iraq, for which the Americans continued blaming Iran and the Quds Force. This was one of his little initiatives to make Iraq unsafe for the Americans.”

Talebzadeh also acknowledged that the regime’s terrorist threat persists despite Soleimani’s elimination, and the regime is behind the recent attacks on the U.S. embassy in Iraq.

“Americans are still struggling with [the regime’s terrorism]. They are mobilizing forces because they are not safe, they are now in Baghdad’s green zone to be safe. But they are not safe there too,” he said.

On January 3, 2020, a U.S.-led airstrike targeted a convoy exiting the Baghdad International Airport, killing Soleimani.

Talebzadeh’s remarks once again proves the Iranian Resistance revelation of the Iranian regime’s devastating role in the Middle East, particularly Iraq.

Who was Soleimani?

The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) published an article on January 5, 2020, entitled as “Who was vicious criminal Qassem Soleimani,” revealing damning details of Soleimani’s role in using the IED bombs to target Iranian opposition members and the Coalition forces in Iraq.

“Soleimani and his proxy groups in Iraq and Afghanistan were behind the flow of IEDs to Iraq and Afghanistan. The devastating IEDs were used extensively during the war in Iraq between 2003 and 2011, and it is called the number one killer of the war. In April 2019, the Pentagon announced that Iran is to blame for 17 percent of all U.S. service personnel deaths between 2003 and 2011,” read the article.

“The sophisticated IEDs were secretly manufactured in Iran’s military industry factories under the order of Quds force and were distributed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Later Iran’s military factories manufactured a more powerful and deadlier roadside bomb called explosively formed projectiles (EFPs). EFPs were built under a confidential order by the Quds Force in Iran. Explosively formed projectiles were advanced improvised explosive devices that were harder to detect, could penetrate thicker armor and be more lethal than traditional IEDs. The National Council of Resistance of Iran revealed the exact location of the factories on July 25, 2006, and 29 January 2009,” the NCRI revealed.

Soleimani was behind targeting members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq.

“The Quds force developed the “Improvised Explosive Device (IED)” to target MEK convoys in Iraq in the 90s. By the end of 2002 over 12 roadside bombs, including IEDs and car bombs were used against MEK convoys, causing death and injury of tens of MEK members. One of the worst attacks was carried out on June 9, 1999. A roadside bomb was detonated alongside the Baghdad-Khalis road as a bus full of MEK members was passing, causing the death of six passengers and the injury of 21 others. Also, several local Iraqi cars were damaged, an Iraqi bypasser was killed and many others were injured,” wrote the NCRI in this regard.

Who was Qassem Soleimani?

Who is Nader Talebzadeh?

On February 13, 2019, the U.S. State Department sanctioned two institutions and nine individuals affiliated to the Iranian regime. One of these two institutions was the “New Horizon Organization” (In Farsi it is called Ofogh No Organization). Nader Talebzadeh and Zainab Mohana Talebzadeh were among the sanctioned individuals. Talebzadeh cooperates with the IRGC organization of electronic war and defense.

The IRGC supports the New Horizon institution, and authorities have admitted to its liaison with Khamenei’s office. Its main task is providing cultural cover for the IRGC Quds Force’s terrorist acts and obtaining security intelligence. This is accomplished, for instance, by holding “conferences” and other events to recruit agents for the IRGC’s Quds Force and obtaining information from foreign citizens.

New Horizon also uses foreign agents to produce and disseminate material for the regime’s demonization campaign against the Iranian opposition, particularly the MEK. For instance, during the sixth conference of New Horizon that was held in Mashhad on May 2018, representatives of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) advocated and distributed several books and publications of the MOIS against the MEK in English and also used the event to tarnish the image of the MEK and also briefed the individuals who were brought to the conference by the regime and tarnished the image of the MEK.

The Astan-e Quds Razavi, Iran’s largest financial institution, which is controlled by the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, finances New Horizon.

A Final Word

Talebzadeh’s words once again confirm the Iranian Resistance calls on the international community to take a firm action against the Iranian regime’s state-sponsored terrorism.

The international community’s inaction, particularly the European Union’s appeasement policy, has emboldened Tehran to continue its terrorist activities and even spread them to Europe. The arrest and trial of Iran’s diplomat-terrorist, Assadollah Assadi, who tried to bomb the NCRI’s gathering in France in 2018, is a testament to the fact that the mullahs’ terrorism recognizes no boundaries.

It is time for EU leaders to stop the appeasement policy, shut down the mullahs’ embassies in Europe, expel Iran’s agents, and sanction all the Iranian regime’s officials for their roles in terrorism and human rights violations. The EU should make it clear for Tehran that its terrorist activities will no longer be tolerated.
