Ahead of crucial FATF meeting, Pakistan arrests LeT leader Lakhvi

 Nearly five years after he was released on bail in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks case, Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operations commander Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi was arrested in Pakistan by its Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on charges of using terror funds. The timing of the arrest is significant as it comes ahead of meetings of the global watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in January and February, which will consider Pakistan ‘greylist’ status, meant for countries “under increased monitoring”.

Chinese spying on Dutch industries 'intensifying': Dutch defence minister

SINGAPORE (Reuters) -Chinese efforts to spy on the Dutch are intensifying, with the focus on semiconductors, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said on Saturday. "The semiconductor industry, which we are technologically leading, or technology advanced, of course, to get that intellectual property - that's interesting to China," Brekelmans said in an interview on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore. Five US troops killed in Afghan roadside blast: officials

Kabul: Five members of the US-led international military coalition were killed on Saturday by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan, the latest deadly attack against foreign troops since the Taliban announced the start of their spring offensive this week. The renewed violence came as Afghan President Hamid Karzai acknowledged that his government has been receiving funds from CIA for more than a decade as part of regular monthly assistance from the US government.
