Indian Armed Forces Eliminate Top LeT Commander, Another Terrorist In Major Anti-Terror Success

In a major success for the security forces in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), they have gunned down a top commander of the Pakistan based anti-India terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in the Kulgam district of Kashmir Valley, reports Hindustan Times.

The LeT commander who has been shot down was active in the Valley for several years and had been involved in a number of terrorist activities. Apart from him, another 'Category A' tagged top operative of LeT was also gunned down in the encounter which broke out this morning.

The encounter broke out between the terrorists and a joint team of security forces from the 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the J&K Police in the Manzgam area of Mirwani village in the district.

Following the encounter, the security forces have cordoned off a few houses in the village and have evacuated the civilians to initiate a search operation in the region.

It should be noted that the killing of the two terrorists comes just days after the security forces had gunned down two terrorists in an encounter in Srinagar's Nawakadal area on 19 May.
