Chhattisgarh: Maoists kill former deputy sarpanch in Gadchiroli on suspicion of being police informer

The incident took place at Navejhari village of Mirchi taluka in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. The deceased, identified as 40-year-old Hiralal Ramsay Kallo, was found in bushes outside the village on Monday morning.

A former deputy sarpanch was killed by maoists in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra on Sunday, claiming that the deceased was a police informer.

The incident took place at Navejhari village of Mirchi taluka in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra. The deceased, identified as 40-year-old Hiralal Ramsay Kallo, was found in bushes outside the village on Monday morning.

The maoists had left pamphlets near his body which mentioned that Kallo had been a police informant and was being punished by the CPI (Maoist) for providing information to police regarding their movement.

Chattisgarh Police had arrested two contractors from Rajnandgaon and Kanker last week. The two contractors allegedly provided maoists with ration, uniforms and other goods and it is being said that the maoists suspected the role of Kallo in passing this information.

Maoists on Sunday evening reached Navejhari village and brought Kallo out of his residence. He was then taken outside the village where he was killed and his body dumped into bushes with pamphlets claiming he was a police informer.

It was on Monday morning that Kallo's body was found dumped outside the village and the Korchi Police post was informed. Police suspect that Korchi Dalam, on orders of the Central Committee of CPI Maoist, had executed the murder.

A case under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder has been registered against unidentified Maoists.
