Notorious terror spokesman Hassan Butt was an MI5 informant, new book claims

An infamous British extremist who praised terror outrages in the run up to 7/7 spent years publicly repeating lines fed to him by MI5, a new book has claimed.
Hassan Butt became one of the country’s most high-profile supporters of al-Muhajiroun at a time when the Islamist group routinely lauded attacks on the West.
The provocative statements of the Manchester jihadist - who once expressed “envy” of the plotters behind 9/11 and the Madrid bombings - led one newspaper to call him “a British traitor”.
It was alleged Butt worked in Pakistan to support attacks by al-Qaeda, but he later renounced the group and suggested he made up stories to get money from the press.
