NIA (National Investigative Agency) carried out searches on early Wednesday morning at 7 locations in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore in connection with the Sri Lankan Easter bombings case in which over 250 people died and several were left injured.

The NIA officials carried out the raids after receiving a tip-off from other intelligence agencies. As per sources, Tamil Nadu state police is also present at the spot of the searches. As per inputs, while no connection has been established yet with the searches and Sri Lanka bombings yet, NIA is conducting the raids based on a tip-off.
Sources suggest that the searches have been carried out at the residence of 7 people, in connections with the Sri Lankan organisation which took was involved in bomb blast through social media
Similar searches were carried out by the investigative agency in Chennai last month. The National Investigation Agency carried out10 raids in Tamil Nadu after getting a tip-off about possible Islamic State terror modules operating in the state in May. The case was earlier registered by the Tamil Nadu police.
Earlier on April 28, NIA raided four homes in Kasaragod and Palakkad, Kerala as part of the transnational investigation unfolding into the Easter Sunday bombings.
The inputs to Sri Lanka were sent through diplomatic channels after a thorough investigation pertaining to the ISIS case in Coimbatore was carried out by the NIA, which has filed a charge sheet against seven people.
On 21 April which was observed as Easter Sunday, three churches in Sri Lanka and three luxury hotels in the commercial capital Colombo were targeted in a series of coordinated terrorist suicide bombings. 258 people were killed, including at least 45 foreign nationals and three police officers, and at least 500 were injured.
