Terror watchdog Max Hill in line to be new director of public prosecutions

Britain’s terrorism law watchdog, who urged the scrapping of legislation that might target Muslims, is the front runner to be the next director of public prosecutions, The Times has learnt.
Max Hill, QC, the independent reviewer of terrorism legislation, is believed to head a shortlist to take over the £204,000-a-year post in October. The successful candidate is expected to be announced this month.
Mr Hill has held the terrorism law post since March last year but his appointment as DPP would meet the wish to have in the role an experienced criminal barrister who has both prosecuted and defended high-profile cases from terrorism trials to homicide, violent crime, high value fraud and corporate crime
