Left wing extremism: Senior Maoist leader surrenders in Warangal
WARANGAL: CPI-ML Maoist Party dalam member Matla Anil alias Ganesh on Wednesday surrendered before Dr V Ravinder, commissioner of police here.
Dr Ravinder later produced Ganesh before the media. Ganesh hails from Ambala village of Kamalapur mandal in Warangal urban district. He was attracted to Maoist party’s literature and joined it. He went underground in 2016. Ganesh was working with Charla-Shabari area committee secretary Sharada Akka. Earlier he worked for three years with Arunodaya Samskruthika Samakhya president Vimala Akka. During the period he met Maoist party state secretary Haribhushan several times in Bhadrachalam forest, Dr Ravinder said.
Ganesh was promoted as commander of Jananatya Mandali of Maoist Party. He worked in Kalakaru forest area in Chhattisgarh. In 2017 he worked for four months with Lakmal, commander of Chaitanya Natya Munch of Chhattisgarh.
He was, however, not involved in any violent incident during the underground life.
Ganesh was vexed with Maoist ideology and decided to surrender before the police. The police commissioner called upon the underground cadre of Maoist Party to join mainstream of society and live with their families.
The police commissioner said surrendered Maoists may utilize government schemes for their livelihood. Dr Ravinder gave Ganesh Rs 5000 as immediate financial assistance. He said further monetary help will be provided to Ganesh under the state government’s rehabilitation scheme.
