NSCN (K) involved in narco-terrorism: AR

IGAR (N) has stated that the NSCN (K) has been involved in “narco-terrorism to procure war like stores, training of their cadres and running camps for training other militant outfits on a purely mercenary basis”.
In a communiqué, PRO IGAR (N) said as per intelligence inputs NSCN (K) including ULFA(I) and KLO were carrying out opium cultivation and trade in Kachin province of Myanmar. 
“Khaplang cadres are into cultivation and transportation of opium, but the same has been consistently denied by Khaplang”, the PRO stated. 
AR however said that the recent pictures uploaded by a senior leader of Khaplang group, ‘col’ Isak Sumi, finance in charge of Nagaland, with poppy cultivation in the background substantiates the claim made by various intelligence agencies that the group was thriving on drug trafficking and opium trade. 
PRO claimed that “on social media Isak Sumi claims that it is poppy crop in the background close to Kachin–China border”. 
Assam Rifles said that the involvement of NSCN (K) in drug trafficking has become a serious problems for the Naga society in particular and North Eastern region as a whole. 
“Khaplang doesn’t have an ideology and insurgency for him is a business; a means to achieve the end”, the PRO said. 
3 cadres of NSCN (K) surrender: Three cadres of the NSCN (K) reportedly surrendered before the 18 Assam Rifles in Peren on Monday. According to reports a brief surrender programme was held at Peren.
