Syrian government air strikes kill 16 civilians

At least 16 people, including 13 children, were killed in an air raid conducted by the Syrian government in a town in southern Daraa province, a rights group said.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the strike targeted a centre for study of the Koran in the town of Eastern Ghariyah, reported News24. While noting that the death toll from the air strikes could rise as a number of those injured were in serious condition, the rights group accused the Syrian government of conducting a 'massacre'.

Eastern Ghariyah is located on the eastern edge of Daraa province, not far from the 52nd Brigade base that a rebel alliance seized from the regime a week ago.
