Over 2,230 Syrians killed in April
Damascus, Syria – The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said it documented 2,231 deaths in April, clarifying that 95 percent of them were civilians.
The network issued a report about the violations of April in Syria, saying that attacks by the regime forces resulted in the death of 1,884, including 1,519 civilians of which 269 were children and 192 women.
The SNHR said in a report on Friday that the number of opposition fighters killed by militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS) in Syria “was rising rapidly”, adding that 220 people were killed by IS militants in April.
“A third of all attacks targeted women and children, which showed that civilians were being purposely targeted,” the network said.
The numbers were obtained by activists who accessed various cities around the country, but many other places were unreachable due to an ongoing blockade, lack of communication and the regime’s attempts to prevent organizations from gaining access to work on the ground.
The SNHR holds the current regime in Syria responsible for the continuous bloodshed in Syria, appealing to the international community to force the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute those involved in the bloodshed of Syrian people
