Secular culture the real evil: Hafiz

Says elections in IHK not an alternate to plebiscite | JuD’s two-day convention starts at Minar-i-Pakistan

LAHORE - Jamaatud Dawa’s (JuD) two-day convention started at Minar-i-Pakistan on Thursday with the call of party chief Hafiz Saeed to start a movement for transforming Pakistan into an Islamic state as dreamt by the founders of the country.

Thousands of JuD workers including females from across the country are participating in the convention which the Dawa is describing a milestone to bring peace and harmony among the people of Pakistan.

A fine, disciplined and comprehensive security arrangements were seen during the whole day proceedings of the convention. The JuD has set up 15 camps for male and four separate camps for the female participants. More than 10,000 JuD workers have been deployed on security. No persons are being allowed to enter in Minar-e-Pakistan ground without proper security checkup. The meal is being served to the participants in the camps by the volunteers. Documentaries are being presented about the Dawa service during worst earthquake 2005 and heavy floods 2010 and 2013 by the party’s social service wing (Falahe Insanyat Foundation). Medical camps, stalls of books and other items have also been set up.

The main feature of the first day proceedings was the national conference attended by representatives of different religious parties.

Addressing a big gathering, the JuD chief described the promotion of secular culture as the real evil and root cause of country’s problems. He viewed the separation of Bangladesh a fault of the Muslims of the sub-continent because they had been unsuccessful to protect the Two-Nation Theory — the basis of the creation of Pakistan.

“Muslims of this region could not protect the Two-Nation Theory and failed to promote Islamic culture in Pakistan which led to the country’s dismemberment,” he held, adding, it was the need of the hour to seek forgiveness from Almighty Allah and start a movement to make Pakistan an Islamic state. He stressed the need for shunning sectarian violence, provincialism and ethnic biases. He asked the people to adopt the path of Allah Almighty. He said the founders of the country were no more and one part of Pakistan was separated but now it was the responsibility of people to protect this country from every conspiracy, he stressed.

Talking about Kashmir issue, Hafiz Saeed said election in occupied valley was not an alternate to plebiscite promised by the United Nations with Kashmiri people.

Other speakers who addressed on the occasion were Muslim Conference AJK chief Sardar Attique, Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaquat Baloch, JUP president Sahibzada Abul Khair Zubair, Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer, JUI leader Maulana Amjad Khan, Tanzeem-e-Islami chief Hafiz Akif Saeed, LHCBA president Shafqat Mahmood Chohan, NPT secretary Shahid Rasheed, Sardar Shayam Sing and others.

Speakers, addressing on the occasion, stressed the need to promote peace and harmony among the people of Pakistan. They asked the Muslim ummah to be united for propagation of Islam. They saw that India, Israel and America were hatching conspiracies against Pakistan to destabilise the country and their plots against Pakistan could only be foiled by creating unity in ranks of all Pakistanis. They said Pakistanis should set themselves free of economic slavery from the international donor agencies. They said Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan and people of Pakistan would continue moral support to their Kashmiri brothers. They condemned what they described as the Indian Prime Minister’s cruel attitude against the Muslims of India. They said Jihad should not be mixed with terrorism.
