ISIL executes scores of commanders for treachery

The leadership of ISIL Takfiri terrorists in the Iraqi city of Mosul has executed dozens of its commanders on charges of treachery and duplicity.

An Iraqi lawmaker revealed Wednesday that the Takfiri group has killed 86 foreign commanders who were attempting to escape Mosul and return to their home countries.

ISIL leadership became aware of the contacts the commanders had made with their families and ordered them to be executed, Mowafaq Rubaie told Iraqi News.  

The lawmaker, who is a member of the State Law Coalition in the Iraqi parliament, said the executions came against the backdrop of frequent cases of desertion by ISIL commanders over the past weeks.

They were accused of treachery and duplicity just for requesting a return to their homelands, Rubaie added.  

Hundreds of ISIL commanders are Arab militants from countries in Africa, including Libya and Morocco. The Syrian government has recovered a large number of foreign passports from terrorists killed during army operations showing that many of the ISIL militants had traveled from other countries to join the terrorist group.

ISIL terrorists control swathes of land in Iraq and Syria, but they have suffered huge blows over the past weeks as Iraqi army continues to retake some key areas in the country’s central and Western parts. The group has recently been hit with numerous setbacks in neighboring Syria.
