Six killed in Nigeria bomb attack


Lagos: At least six people were killed and five others injured following a bomb explosion in northwest Nigeria`s Kano state, police said Saturday.

The incident occurred Friday night when a suicide bomber went into a filling station pretending to buy fuel for the vehicle he was driving, Aderinle Shinaba, the state commissioner of police, told reporters.

The police chief said immediately the hoodlum entered the service station, he detonated the bomb which was inside his car, according to Xinhua.

He added that two vehicles were completely burnt down, while two others were damaged.

Shinaba said the injured people had since been taken to hospital for treatment.

Nigeria has been witnessing some of the worst violence in recent years. Terrorism and violent activities by Boko Haram militants have killed thousands of civilians in Nigeria, according to a recent UN report.
