Gunmen kill 11 in Nigeria village attack

YOLA, Nigeria April 6 (Xinhua) -- Police in Nigeria's Adamawa State on Saturday confirmed reports that a total of 11 people were killed when an uncertain number of gunmen invaded a village in the country's northeastern state

State police spokesperson Mohammed Ibrahim disclosed this to Xinhua in Yola, the state capital, saying 11 people were so far confirmed killed by the police in the incident that took place in Midlu village in Madagali Local Government area.

A local security source however said the attack took place in the early morning of Saturday around 2 a.m, local time.

The source said the attackers also went to the state deputy governor's house in the village where they shot some people.

He claimed he counted 13 bodies of those killed in the village by the attackers.

Two weeks ago, a total of 25 people were killed when an uncertain number of gunmen invaded 13 places in Ganye local government area, a border town of the city.

The attack in the northeastern state came barely two months after similar ones on police stations and prison in Maiha and Song local government areas of the state during which many people died.

Adamawa is among northern states where violent attacks had been recorded in Nigeria.
