Woman Maoist killed in gun battle

One woman left wing insurgent was killed while one another was arrested during a gun battle between Maoists and paramilitary forces  in a densely forested pocket of Pamed police station in Naxal-infested Bijapur district on Saturday.
Police sources informed that the deceased was identified as Madkami Devi member of North Telangana Special Zone Committee (NTSZC). Police claimed that the commander of NTSZC Sukhi Devi was injured in gun battle but somehow she managed to flee from the spot. Security forces have launched intensive manhunt to nab Sukhi Devi.
Sources further informed that police party had information about the movement of Maoist in the area on the border of Chhattisgarh-Andhra Pradesh border. Accordingly a team of district police, STF was prepared. The Greyhounds of Andhra Pradesh also took part in the action. The gun battle in the forested areas of Pamed between police force and Naxals lasted for about half-an-hour after which the Maoists vanished in dense forests.
In a separate incident security forces demolished a Maoist camp under Farsegarh police station. As per official information received from the office of Superintendent of police Bijapur, police got information about presence of Maoist military platoon in village Sendra and jungles of Palsegunda. Accordingly a team of STF and district police was sent to the spot which was about 83 kms from Farsegarh police station. After the security forces reached the spot Maoist opened fire on police party. After a brief exchange of fire, Maoists ran away. Later during the searching 2 empty magazines of LMG, Maoist literature was found.
