Maoists Set Afire Three Vehicles in Bihar
Maoists set afire three vehicles near Dumariaght bridge on river Gandak in Bihar's East Champaran district, police said today.
The Maoists, around 20 in number, set on fire two tankers and a coal-laden truck late last night, Superintendent of Police, Operation, Sanjay Kumar Singh said.
The Maoists left leaflets on the spot protesting the alleged rape of a jailed woman cadre in Sitamarhi prison, he said.
The ultras said in the leaflet that they have called a bandh in the state today to protest the alleged rape of their cadre.
In a related development, the Maoists torched three vehicles at separate places under Bhagwanpur and Lalganj police station areas in Bihar's Vaishali district, a police official said.
About a dozen armed Maoists set on fire a bus and a truck on NH-77 in Ashadpur-Satpura village under Bhagwanpur police station area in wee hours, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Upendra Kumar Sinha said.
The ultra intercepted the passenger vehicle and offloaded those onboard before torching the vehicle, he said, adding they set aflame a sand-laden truck in the same village.
Another group of about 15 armed Maoists set on fire a sand-laden dumper at Parmanandpur village under Lalganj police station area, Sinha said.
