Explosion rocks busy New Road area in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: An "explosion" occurred at a busy junction in New Road of Kathmandu on Friday afternoon, terrorising the passersby and bystanders.
A pressure cooker without lid but stuffed with pieces of paper was found at the Peepal Bot area after the incident at around 3:20 pm.
Confused bystanders and local vendors in the area ran in terror after the big bang was heard. But there was no crater formation at the site and no damage was caused by it.
Police confiscated the vessel, and said there was no trace of explosives in what was believed to be bomb. However, further examination will be carried out at laboratory to find out how the sound was produced.
No casualty has been reported.
