Thai and Cambodian soldiers have exchanged fire on a disputed stretch of the common border.
5 servicemen, including 2 Thai and 3 Cambodian troops, are reported killed. According to the Defence Ministries in Bangkok and Phnom Penh, the firing erupted at dawn on Friday and went on for at least half and hour.
This is the first armed clash on the Thai-Cambodian border since early February, when the two countries’ border conflict escalated into a four-day war.
Thailand and Cambodia are at loggerheads about the old Preah Vihear temple, which is located in the disputed area.
