300 killed in suicide attacks in 2009

ISLAMABAD (SANA): At least 300 people were killed and 1100 others injured in 30 suicide attacks in the first five months of 2009.
Suicide attackers targeted mosques, Imambargahs, and office of sensitive departments in various parts of the country including the tribal areas.
They killed one ANP legislator and attacked on the house of PML-Q leader Engineer Amir Muqam in their 2009 terrorist activities.
According to SANA report, the wave of suicide bombing in 2009 started on January 1 when 3 policemen were killed and 6 others injured in two suicides attack in Peshawar.
8 people including three policemen and two journalists were killed and 27 other injured
in January four suicide attack, whereas, 4 people were killed in Dera Bugti bomb blast on 14 January. On January 30, four troops were killed and 8 others were injured in Malakand blast.
In the month of February, five suicide attacks were carried out, killing 69, including MPA of ANP Alam Zaib Khan and injuring 235 others.
Shadows of terrorism became darker, when terrorists attacked on the Sir Lankan cricket team in Lahore, killing 5 policemen and injuring 13 including 6 Lankan players, total 128 people were killed and 355others injured in 14 bomb blasts, including terrorist’s ambushes in March 2009.
With the immediate start of April 2009, the PML-Q leader Amir Muqam house was blown up in Swat, whereas, terrorists carried out 6 attacks, 87 people were killed and 202 others were injured in the month of April.
In the current month of May terrorists carried out four suicides attacks killing 60 people and injuring more than 391.
These statistics showed that the country remained in the grip of terrorisms since last five months.
